The Lao government has again said it won’t proceed on the controversial dam before gaining approval from the international community, and in particular the downstream countries.
This is great news, if it remains true, for the Mekong communities (not just human) in north-east Cambodia who would have their homes and livelihoods destroyed by the likely consequences of this dam.
