SHG Finance PLC aims to create social equity and mutual assistance to mobilize and promote savings, which provides self-sustaining viable credit services for communities through the formation of self-help groups, while providing capacity building and development for small and medium sized enterprises.

Creation of CBOs
Since 2009 CRDT has worked and formed community based organisations (CBOs), and this strategy has produced very effective outcomes. The CBOs strategy was set up to support groups to become a community that complies with Cambodian law, and who is able to learn to work together, share information, and through its participation in the projects understands the concept of solidarity. Working with CBOs allows to improve the income generation as it empowers and enables farmers to identify the access to markets and products development, thus to improve sustainable livelihoods for the poor to raise better standards of living.
Partnership with HiH India
In July 2012, CRDT after witnessing the impact of Self-Help Groups (SHG) in India and their HiHsustainability in terms of financial autonomy and job creation, initiated a partnership with Hand in Hand India (HiH) coordinated by Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on a pilot project called Self-Help-Groups (SHGs) & Micro Finance (MF) based Livelihoods programs.
Hand In Hand Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd undertakes consultancy and partnership projects in the field of development, specifically on Micro Finance, Financial Inclusion & Livelihoods. Within a pilot project coordinated by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), HiHCSPL have initiated the development of so-called Self-Help-Groups (SHGs) & Micro Finance (MF) based Livelihoods programs.
This project has provided knowledge transfer, training and capacity building for CRDT staff. CRDT has implemented the program, as designed by HiHCSPL by providing training and enterprise support to SHGs. The SHGs aim at empowering the rural poor and urban communities to access viable financial services solution for sufficient economic development for their members. The group also mobilizes savings and provides financial services to low income persons or groups within the framework of training and development of micro enterprises, undertakes legal activities on livelihood development, and finally complies with the principle of environmental conservation in line with CRDT’s mission.
The objective of forming Self Help Group (SHG) is for the members in the group to come together and help each other to empower themselves, improve their socio-economic status by enhancing livelihoods and improving financial management among the members through micro-credit and contribute towards community development and natural resource conservation.
