A Busy Month in the Low Season

In CRDTours, Mondulkiri, News, Stung Treng, Weekly update from the field

Just in the two first weeks of July, CRDTours has led two groups of tourists to witness a very unique tour experience. One group visited the Bunong indigenous communities living in remote Mondulkiri province (a Northeastern province of Cambodia). The group enjoyed the local culture, learned about the nature and spent time working with the communities to experience their real ways of life in a responsible manner. Our tourists also spent time exploring the rainforest and stayed overnight there to experience the sound of nature.

The other group, the students from the Student Shoulder To Shoulder (SSTS) program in the US, decided to enroll ona Community Development Tour. They stayed in home-stays for one week in the village of Koh Preah, Stung Treng Province. They helped build a community tourism center for Koh Preah community-based eco-tourism project. For several days, they nailed, hoed and cleared dirt.Right now, the construction is 70% complete. Soon, tourist swho visit Koh Preah will have a proper place to meet and receive information. CRDTours would like to thank our close partner in particular the SSTS program organizers, Jim Millardand Mike Beerntsen (www.studentsshouldertoshoulder.com) for having their students coming to learn with CRDTours every year.
